Holiday movie about killing and human nature
Ulrich Seidl returns to Africa - last time he was here, realizing the memorable story "Paradise: Love" about the sexture of older white women. This time he portrays Austrian hunters who enjoy the "charms" of killing animals in the reserve.
The hunting procedure is legal and organized in the form of exclusive holidays for Europeans wishing to experience the "wild" adventure on the Black Sea. Tourist business with hunting for wildebeest, zebras or giraffes on offer is led by an Austrian well-known tastes of visitors from the Old Continent.
Seidl portrays these hunters-tourists in their own way - mercilessly, ironically and with a specific distance. We see the death and suffering of animals. German and Austrian tourists shoot, cry out of excitement, posed for pictures with hunted game.
Seidl taps the mask of "civilized" Europeans, showing barely hidden racism, indifference to poverty, and fascination with violence.
