The famous author of detective stories Harlan Trombley is found dead in his estate the day after his 85th birthday. The investigation is as elegant as the inquisitive detective Benoit Blanc. The day before Trombley's fatal descent, a grand ceremony took place in his estate with the participation of his rather special family.
Detective Blanc suspects everyone, including the most devoted servant of the deceased. With determination and skill he breaks through the network of family dependencies, envy, mutual accusations and financial expectations. Everyone has a motive, just like in a family. There was no one missing the occasion of the family's senior birthday, but there can be only one perpetrator. Locked in a luxury mansion, subjected to unconventional methods of investigating Blanca, Trombley's "loved ones" are forced to take on a murderous game, the result of which will remain a mystery until the last moment.
